This magnificent 1886 cabinet grand piano by the legendary Julius Bauer of Chicago features a gorgeous exterior of "tiger oak" with beautiful filigree work on the music stand and the panels beside it. Acanthus leaves and columns add to the aura of solidity and classical design elements. Expensive restoration would be required if your intent is to actually play it, but just imagine the possibilities if adapted to frame a contemporary keyboard, or even as a writing desk.

History in your hands--this piano has been around for the "gay nineties," Prohibition, speakeasies, women's suffrage, the Belle Epoque, the 1893 World's Columbian Exhibition in Chicago, the Great Depression, and two World Wars. And the tiger oak (quarter sawn to create the distinctive grain pattern) feels almost like it's alive.

A beautiful and tangible window into the past, in need of an owner who will boldly adapt it to the future.
